A clinical study of decompression sickness.

Abstract

As increasing diving populations for occupation or for sports of pleasure diving, the decompression sickness may be increasing in its incidence. The clinical manifestations of decompression sickness are diverse. In the severe cases (TypeⅡ) involving central nervous system of brain or spinal cord, rehabilitative concerns for related disabilities should be given.

This study was done to evaluate the clinical features resulting from the decompression sickness. One hundred forty-seven subjects with decompression sickness were studies.

Mild type decompression sickness (TypeⅠ) and severe type (TypeⅡ) was 69.3% and 30.6%, respectively. Of TypeⅡ, 30 cases (66.6%) were spinal cord injured with related disabilities.
