Analysis of the Stance Phase by Measurement of Plantar Pressure
Abstract

The purpose of this study was to estimate normal values for analysis of variation of the plantar pressure during gait cycle and of pathologic gait.

Forty adults who had healthy feet were evaluated by EMED-SF system to analyze stance phase of gait cycle. The 6 points of stance phase were determined according to progression of the plantar pressure and the center of pressure. The mean percentile of each point of stance phase were correlated with the Perry's classification and the classic classification of gait cycle. Point one was initial contact. Point 2 was between the loading response and the midstance. Point 3 was between the midstance and the terminal stance. Point 4 was between the terminal stance and the preswing. Point 5 was between the push off and the acceleration. Point 6 was toe off.

We concluded that the percentile analysis of the 6 points was valuable for analysis of the stance phase.
