Brachial Plexus Injury Associated with Fractures of the Clavicle
Abstract

The Purpose of this study is to evaluate the brachial plexus injury associated with fractures of the clavicle in trauma patients.

We performed electrophysiologic study to evaluate brachial plexus lesion 35 patients with clavicular fracture.

The summary of results was as follows;

1) Of the 35 cases of clavicle fracture, 13(37.1%) cases were diagnosed as brachial plexus injury.

2) The most frequently involved site of fracture was middle (30 cases), and followed by distal third(4 cases), proximal third(1 case).

3) Among 13 cases of brachial plexus injury, preganglionic lesion was 6 cases(46.15%), postganglionic lesion was 6 cases(46.15%), and pre & postganglionic lesion was I case(7.70%) Electrophysiologic study for patients with clavicular fracture may be helpful to identify the brachial plexus lesion, and to establish the proper management plan.
