Abstract |
We have a clinical experience of central pontine myelinolysis(CPM) with extrapontine myelinolysis(EPM) that occured in 15th day after the heart surgery. The patient was in renal failure and remediated with rapid serum sodium correction. However, she had begun to show comatose, quadriparetic and pseudobulbar palsied features. We had diagnosed her as CPM with EPM through brain MRI and brainstem auditory evoked potential(BAEP), and have cared her with varieties of rehabilitative maneuvers. The overall outcome was excellent. Her case was rare and unique in the perspectives of age of onset and overall outcome. So we are to illustrate it with thorough review of literatures. |
